Full Mekong Delta Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be Town – Mekong Rustic Lodge (L, D)

This morning, you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to Cai Be province in Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, we will pay a short visit to Cao Dai Temple and Cai Be Cathedral, one of the destinations that most people visit on one day trip here. In chanting time, inside the main area of the temple, you can see worshipers and priests bowed, their head planted on the floor and chanted words of praise. You will admire the tranquil atmosphere and solemn drumbeat.

After that, we embark on a trip to Cai Be town to observe the daily life of local people and gain authentic experiences. We then continue our shore excursion to the Mekong Rustic Lodge in Tan Phong Island, check-in and take a rest before having lunch in an open-air restaurant.

After lunch, we will participate in some local activities such as ditch fishing hook, fruit plucking or gardening to learn more about the daily activities of the locals. After that, we will back to the Mekong Rustic Lodge for relaxing. Following your dinner, you can choose to take part in interesting activities including night-frog catching (weather permits) or teaching local children English. Overnight in Mekong Rustic Lodge.

Day 2: Mekong Rustic Lodge – Halfday Cycling Tour – Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Wake up in the early morning to enjoy fresh air, see the tranquil scenery of the countryside. After having breakfast, we will continue to discover Tan Phong Island on a bike. While pedaling through village paths, we stop at some traditional handicraft workshops of handbags, rice papers, wooden tables, and chairs. We then visit a local farmer’s house, chat with the host to learn the way they take care of their garden. You also can try to pluck the fruits in the host’s garden and taste them. Say goodbye to the host, we continue cycling to ‘bang’ conical hat workshop where we will learn to make beautiful conical hats from a special leave called ‘la buong’. Finally, we go back to the Mekong Rustic, relax and check out around 11:00.

Our boat is ready to take us back to Cai Be where our car drivers will transfer us back to Ho Chi Minh City. Your day trip from Saigon ends.
